Adventures of a Novelty Fabric and Selvage Obsessed Quilter

Glad you stopped by!

I am a busy wife and the mom of 19 year old twins, a boy and a girl who are Sophomores at Syracuse University.

I have been quilting since the spring of 2008. I love novelty fabrics, colorful and unique.

Selvage quilting is addictive! Who knew the "junk" we cut off and threw out would be what I now save! I started a new tradition when I travel--visiting quilt stores! I particularly enjoy going to stores that have been named in the Quilt Sampler Featured Shop Lists-

Travel Pillowcases!

I made these great travel pillowcases
last night for Sophie's siblings:
Charlie, Rachel and Lauren.
I gave the pillows and Sophie's Quilt to them today,
and I know they will all be well loved!!
A special thanks to Claire and Lynn
at Mouse Creek Quilts for helping me find
great fabrics to complete the pillowcases!

Sophie's quilt completed!!

I blogged about this quilt back in April.

I needed to machine quilt and bind it,
but I was waiting to get my Sew Steady
extension table.

I quilted it about a week ago, then realized
I was short on the brown fabric
I wanted to use for binding.
I had originally bought it in Lancaster, PA.

A quick internet search and I discovered
had it in stock, and we could easily stop there
on our way home from the Philadelphia airport.

I called, and they set aside what I needed.
I stopped in Saturday, and discovered
that it was a terrific bustling shop, with
a great selection and helpful staff.

I will be bringing it tomorrow,
when I have lunch with Sophie's mom, my cousin Lisa!

Is it just me?

Or does this remind you of selvages?

It is an advertisement for the new City Center Complex.
I saw it at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
I saw it last year as well, and
thought the same thing then!

After!

My husband and a friend
carried out the sofa today.
A few things remain in the
room to be cleared out shortly.

My husband and I are headed
to Las Vegas for a few days
to celebrate (early) our 25th anniversary!
It is August 18th.

While I'm away, I will post pictures
of more of the fabrics I got at J & O!

Happy 4th of July!

Wishing all who celebrate
wonderful holiday!

We have a busy weekend planned
with sun, friends and fun!

 into their program.
When I spoke to my daughter yesterday.

Totally worth every penny to send them!!!

First steps!

A new chair for the new sewing room!!
The one pictured is brown,
but mine is black.

I have a sectional sofa to get rid of,
since Babe, our lab, has pretty
much destroyed most of the cushions.
I thought about recovering it in
selvages, but even I have a limit!

One small tear, and the rest is history!
I made arrangements to
have the sofa picked up July 13th
thru bulk pickup by our township
Dept of Public Works.
At least I don't have to pay to get it taken away :)
