Adventures of a Novelty Fabric and Selvage Obsessed Quilter

Glad you stopped by!

I am a busy wife and the mom of 19 year old twins, a boy and a girl who are Sophomores at Syracuse University.

I have been quilting since the spring of 2008. I love novelty fabrics, colorful and unique.

Selvage quilting is addictive! Who knew the "junk" we cut off and threw out would be what I now save! I started a new tradition when I travel--visiting quilt stores! I particularly enjoy going to stores that have been named in the Quilt Sampler Featured Shop Lists-

Jules Birthday!

I got a text earlier this week
from my friend Beth,
whose husband Jules was
celebrating a birthday, turning 65,
and being honored at a luncheon today.
The text wondered if I had any inexpensive,
creative centerpiece ideas.
The above photo is what I came up with.
They looked amazing!!!

Selvage Fabric

Christina of A Few Scraps in Portland, OR made this selvage fabric on Spoonflower! Isn't this amazing? The biggest dots are about an inch across. Christina decided to make a smaller version too. You can see both on her blog, and you can purchase this fabric at Spoonflower ($18/yard): large dots, and small dots. I'm liking the busyness of the smaller dots. I've been thinking of this for a long time. Actually doing it is so much better! Yayy, Christina!

Dreaming of doing this, and actually doing it are two different things!

Personally, it is all about the selvage hunt for me!

Kindle cover for Rachelle!

My friend Rachelle
got a new Kindle Fire,
so of course, she needed
a selvage cover for it!
She is the friend who I go
to Lancaster with for the
AQS show.
Even though she doesn't quilt,
she is the best selvage stalker there is!!!

Want. Now.

Love, but not the $98 price tag!

If you love colors then you’re probably the type who’s such a purist about it
and refers to Pantone swatches for the accuracy of color representation.
For those who don’t know, Pantone, Inc. is a company known for its
Pantone Matching System, which is basically a universal
means of getting color to match across industries.

I had no idea!
