Adventures of a Novelty Fabric and Selvage Obsessed Quilter

Glad you stopped by!

I am a busy wife and the mom of 19 year old twins, a boy and a girl who are Sophomores at Syracuse University.

I have been quilting since the spring of 2008. I love novelty fabrics, colorful and unique.

Selvage quilting is addictive! Who knew the "junk" we cut off and threw out would be what I now save! I started a new tradition when I travel--visiting quilt stores! I particularly enjoy going to stores that have been named in the Quilt Sampler Featured Shop Lists-

No sewing today

but I spent a great day with my kids!

My husband is in AZ until Tuesday
with his Dad visiting his brother Joel
and our sister in law Lisa.

Matt had a basketball game this morning.
He had a great game and even made a 3 point shot!
Woo Hoo!

This afternoon, Marisa and I went to get her
new pointe shoes,
then went to Kohls, where she
found some awesome stuff!

Tonight, the 3 of us went to
the Cheesecake Factory!

It doesn't get much better than a day like this!!

The BIG 50!

Last night, we had a party to
celebrate Marc's 50th birthday!
We are so lucky to have amazing
friends and family to celebrate with!
The big surprise was that
Marc's brother from AZ
flew in for the night and
he had no idea he would be there!!

Snow, again

Snowed overnight, but only 6-8 inches,
School was closed, and
we have a 90 minute delay tomorrow morning.
Our street was plowed by 9:30 am,
and we were able to get out for a while this afternoon.
Much better than the storm asfter Christmas
when we were snowed in for 4 days!

I guess I am a grown up now-

I went to the eye doctor last week,
and wasn't suprised to learn that I now need distance glasses.
I have been wearing readers for the past 8 years or so.
Today I ordered progressive bifocals.
Marisa and I went, and she was a huge help.
The ones I chose are by Vera Wang, and I love them.
They are a lovely amethyst color.
They should be in to pick up in about a week or so.

Big Bang Theory!

I recently purchased the dvd's of
seasons  1, 2 and 3 of this wonderful show.

My daughter and I watched
seasons 1 and 2 while we were snowed in,
and we are working our way thru season 3 now.

It is one of a few shows I look
forward to watching each week.

Anyone else a fan?

Marisa's Winter Recital

Our daughter Marisa has been
a student at the Dance Den
since she is 2 1/2 years old.
They have a winter recital for
those students who take pointe
and performance level classes.
It was held tonight, and since she is
a senior in High School,
this was her final winter recital.

We always have an ice cream cake
from Jersey Freeze for celebrations!

She did an amazing job, as always,
and her smile lights up the stage!
We are so proud of you!!!

Chicago Lost and Found

I just saw this this morning on
Paula Deen's Facebbok page.
I think it is beautiful!

Here is what Paula had to say about it:

The folks over at Chicago Lost and Found can
sure make something out of nothing!
Did y'all see that amazing tree skirt featured in the
new issue of Cooking With Paula Deen magazine?
Well, they made that out of old silk ties!
It's so beautiful and I'll be using it this year under my own tree.
Lend me a hand and help supply old ties to this wonderful organization
that helps teach kids a craft and puts others to work.
Go to http://www.chicagolostandfound.com/ to see
where to send them, or order one for your own tree!

Blinded by the Light- NOT

3:00 this morning, the floor lamp
in our family crashed to the ground,
and broke into a million pieces.
A quick trip to Home Depot
was unsuccessful.
2 hours later on the internet,
and a replacemant is on its way!

While I was shopping,
I finally ordered lighting for my sewing studio!

But wait, there's more!
The ceiling light in our hallway
needed a lightbulb.
Marc took off the cover,
and while we were out,
we picked up a new bulb.

We got home, and he went
to install the bulb.
He promptly discovered a piece
had broken in the fixture.

Off to Home Depot tomorrow
for a replacement fixture!

Hopefully, three is the charm!!

With the help of the crew,
Brazilian artist Romero Britto
brings the crew quarters to life
with this colorful mural
aboard the Allure of the Seas,
 Royal Caribbean's newest ship

The Allure is home to the first
Britto Concept store at sea, with
Britto artwork, posters, giftware
and even luggage for sale.

I can't wait to shop there one day!!
