This afternoon, with the help of my son Matt,
I finally began the construction of my design wall!
The first step was putting rubber cement in the groove
of one side of the Foamular, then joining it with the tongue side.
We did this for both seams.
We used clear packing tape to secure the seams, on both sides.
Then, Matt used rubber cement to glue some balsa wood
strips for additional support.
Once they dried, he taped over them as well.
Next, we put the
White and Natural batting on.
We used a staple gun to secure it to the backside.
Finally, we added a layer of white felt,
and secured it to the back of the board.
I need to still pull the flannel tighter in a few spots,
but that wil be an easy fix for another day.
For now, I am going to wait and see
if I need to secure it to the wall or not.
Of course, I had to try it out!!
Here, I am auditioning
fabrics for Marisa's T shirt Quilt.
Other than being somewhat difficult
to maneuver because of the size-
6' by 8'
it was an easy project that I
will use for years to come!
